El Geco Verde is a family friendly hotel with very keen prices and lots for the kids to see and do.
With families in mind we built extra spacious rooms, so up to five people can comfortably share the space and keep the costs down.
Our five family rooms are all extremely spacious (upwards of 25sqm, not including bathrooms). That means plenty of space for a double bed and up to three single beds. In three of our family rooms it is possible to put two double beds, so let us know if an arrangement like this would suit you best. We are happy to provide cots free of charge, by prior arrangement. All our family rooms have private bathrooms, four of them en suite. Our ground floor family room has been subtly adapted for wheelchair users.
If your child has special dietary requirements or would prefer a simple alternative to the main course on offer, that´s no problem either; we are more than happy to work out options with you in advance of the meal.
Having kids ourselves means we have a stockpile of DVDs, books and toys which can be shared with little visitors. And in the salon we have a range of parlour and table games to keep the kids amused (and hopefully their parents too).
Furry friends
We have a lovely friendly dog called Lola who always accompanies guests on short walks and loves to be stroked and petted.
Lola gets on fine with the various cats who have made themselves at home at El Geco Verde and are also very happy to get some attention if your kids are missing their own pets.
We also have some free range hens.
Egg-collecting appeals to many young visitors, while feeding all those hungry mouths (and beaks) is also great fun for small people.
Our animals are not allowed inside the guest areas of the hotel.
Young kids
Budding archaeologists will enjoy a guided tour of the Bronze Age settlement of Castellon Alto which is followed by an arrow-making workshop and other hands-on archaeological activities.
A favorite excursion for young anglers is a visit to the trout farm in a beautiful setting in the foothills of La Sagra mountain.
Kids will love the simple bamboo rod and sweetcorn bait and are pretty much guaranteed to catch a fish or two.
Young adults
Among the activities for older kids visiting El Geco Verde, canyoning undoubtedly tops the list. The action alternates between wading, jumping, abseiling and floating. No previous experience is necessary. You don´t have to be a great swimmer as wetsuits give bouyancy but a degree of stamina is essential. If you get vertigo easily, your fitness level is below average or you are very sensitve to the cold, it´s probably not for you.
Wild swimming is another really enjoyable activity for the summer months, while those who prefer more conventional waters should check out the idyllic outdoor swimming pool in Castril.
Among the activites which bring the whole family together Rafting tops the list, while Kayaking, Horse riding and Guided Stargazing remain firm favourites.
Hotel Pool
In the summer months the hotel´s 24sqm splash pool helps the kids cool off. Obviously parents are requested to accompany any non-swimmers, but the pool is overlooked by the main guest terrace, so mums and dads can easily keep an eye on young ones. It´s an above-ground pool so the stairs can be removed completely to prevent access when there are no adults around, but we do ask parents to be remain vigilant nevertheless.
